She began working as a dog trainer in 1998 with her mentor, Dee Zurburg, who
taught her the basics of clicker training and the joys of the pet care world.
Her philosophy on dog training is to use positive methods that will be fun for
both the owner and pet. Training is about teaching the dog rather than
controlling it. A well mannered dog is a pleasure to live with and can have more
freedom in society.
A Dog’s World Dog Training & Pet Care, Inc began in September 2000 in Fairfax
VA. Teresa is a proud member of the APDT (Association of
Pet Dog Trainer's) and PSI (Pet Sitter International.) She is also an evaluator
for Canine Good Citizen Testing and loves to host dog friendly events.
She owns a semi-celebrity Border Collie, Leroy, who has made TV appearances on
David Letterman, Planet's Funniest Animals and Animal Planet's Pet Star. He
continues to do promotional work for Dogswell treats and Wubba Toys. No
unemployed dogs here! He also makes local community appearances and enjoys
delighting crowds everywhere. Come see him soon!

Teresa has graduated from one of the most renowned dog trainer academies in the
US, Jean Donaldson’s San Francisco Academy for dog Trainers. She even went off
to Bob Bailey’s Operant Conditioning Camp in Arkansas to train chickens just to
practice the basics of learning theory. She continually reads books, attends
professional seminars and has even published two articles on puppy and dog
socialization. She has made a commitment to the profession and has dedicated
herself to helping dogs and their owners find positive ways of communicating and
adding to each other’s lives.
Outside of her education in the dog training field, Teresa graduated from St.
Anselm College with a degree in Classical Languages. She went on to earn her
Masters Degree in Latin from the University of Florida. Ever thought about
teaching your dog Latin?
